Another milestone: Received FBI clearance for fingerprinting! Wow, talk about a different type of "labor pain"! Last year I was really stressed and depressed as we went through getting our criminal records checked, collecting and producing financial and medical records, surviving the social worker interviews and home inspection, completing 10 hours of parenting classes, etc. But now that we've submitted our fingerprints for FBI clearance, I can relax, right? It was pretty cool to get the digital prints done last week. I had to ask, "what, no ink?" For those who know I'm a CSI wanna-be, you will understand why I was intrigued by the process. And for those asking why are we getting fingerprinted, it's because when you adopt in other states, you have to be cleared through the FBI to bring a baby across state lines.
Ahh, the joys of preparing for parenthood! Oh well, my good friend Tracy took me baby shopping for the first time last weekend. It was fun to buy a couple of things.
We've submitted our profile to a few birth mothers and talked to one who was interested in matching with us. Unfortunately, there were too many health and financial risks that Jon and I decided not to go forward with considering. We put up the crib in the corner of our bedroom until we move out some furniture from the spare bedroom.
