Brayden is officially ours June 10th, approximately 12:45PM PT

Tuesday, June 10th, we were at the hospital before 8:00am to spend time with Brayden in the nursery and meet his pediatrician. Maria called after 10:00am and said she was waiting to meet D. to sign the adoption papers. Since D. was running late, Maria and Joshua went to IHOP and Jon and I decided to go to Denny's since we knew this may be our only chance to eat due to the busy day ahead of us. It was a relief to hear from Maria to confirm that YES, she really was going to allow us to adopt Brayden. Maria called back about 10:45am to give us the news and congratulate us! I was so happy and told her thank you over and over and that I would be thanking her everyday for the rest of her life and everyday of Brayden's life. I'm so grateful to have the open communication with Maria since the agency rep. has not been good about communicating with us at all. ugh! I'm not going there.
Anyway, we made a few calls to family and friends that it was a thumbs up. When I called my Mom, she started crying and I heard her co-workers in the background start clapping. It made me cry and I'm crying again now as I write this because it is so touching that people are sharing in this joyful time with us.
After a yummy Denny's breakfast (splurge on omelette was nice and sweet waitress told me not to order the grits since I'm used to the real southern grits and would be disappointed LOL!) When we met with D. an hour later, we reviewed the paperwork necessary for the next process of finalizing the adoption which will take 6 months. She told us to prepare to stay in Vegas until Friday June 20th since it can take that long for NV & NC states to approve us leaving the state as Brayden's guardians until the adoption is finalized. Finally, about 12:45pm, we were done! I felt like I was floating down the hall to the nursery to get Brayden :}

The nurses at Sunrise Hospital were wonderful! Here is a picture of us with Pat and Julie as we get ready to leave the hospital with Brayden. They were so helpful, supportive and caring. Pat gave great tips showing me how to hold the baby and tend to the umbilical cord. Julie gave me lots of reference materials about breastmilk and she loaded us up with hospital goodies -diapers, bottles, formula, blankets, snap shirts, etc. I also want to mention that other hospital staff, Mildred and Cindu were great too. We dressed Brayden in his sailboat outfit which swallowed him and we took a picture of Jon wearing his hat since it is way too big too. We finally got out of the hospital about 2pm and we headed to Julia and Danny's house. They greeted us with great hugs and congratulations along with Julia's parents and Brighton. Julia noticed scratches on Brayden's face and we got out the baby nail clippers. I was afraid I'd hurt the baby so Julia showed us how to clip the first hand and I clipped his nails on his second hand. We visited for a while then headed out to get Brayden settled at our condo which we had not checked into yet.
Ahh! I can't believe this time is finally here. We've dreamed of this for so long. We have our little boy to take care of now and we are ready to devote our lives to him. So much to learn but so much love to give...I'm bubbly with joy!
